The Clause - In My Element (Track Review)

"Up the... Up the... Up the f***ing Clause" seemingly rings around Birmingham, you can't escape it whether you're in the O2 Academy, The Sunflower Lounge or even Snobs! I'm pretty sure I heard it in New Street at some point as well...

Anyway, The Clause are an Indie rock band from Birmingham who have been setting the scene alight and you wouldn't be mistaken if you referred to them as the faces of the Birmingham music scene, they're seemingly only getting bigger with sold out shows at almost all of the Birmingham venues, a fan base that are beginning to see them as idols and slowly starting to pop up at all of the major festivals. And now they're back with a new single to whet all of our appetites.

In My Element contains everything we've come to expect from The Clause and much, much more. Their typical 60's infused swagger shines as brightly as ever and only serves to set them apart from all of the competition at this point. There's a lot of bands and songs out there where you can't describe what makes it so special but it just has "it", some refer to this as the X Factor but from now on we might have to refer to it as The Clause factor.

There's a little bit of a shoegaze feel to the song with the effects on the guitar and the wall of noise we get as the sleek vocals cruise through the track. It's a steep trajectory for The Clause but with tracks like this they're a little bit of luck away from cracking the big time.
