I think it's safe to say that The Wombats are one of my favourite bands around at the moment, whilst I wasn't totally in love with their latest album "Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life" I still maintain that they make some of the best indie pop out there. That's why I had to see them live again. I saw them on the Glitterbug tour in 2015 and they were truly brilliant, but I was stood at the back and my view was obscured and I was outside of the lively part of the crowd so it's never quite the same.
I'd recommend going to The Empire in Coventry if you're in that area and interested in a gig then I'd definitely get yourself down there, lovely big room with enough space to mosh pit to your hearts content. I only caught the latter half of the support act, The Night Cafe, set and they were decent, nothing special but nothing particularly outstanding either though.
The stage design was nothing special either, but when The Wombats did come on stage it was special. They opened with the wonderfully catchy new single "Cheetah Tongue" and from then on it was just one big sweaty mess only stopping for songs like "Jump Into The Fog" and "I Don't Know Why I Like You But I Do". But huge indie classics like "Moving To New York" and "Let's Dance To Joy Division" warranted crazed responses from the crowd. It wasn't for the faint hearted, which is funny because it isn't the loudest or the craziest music, but the crowd loved it, The Wombats loved it and I loved it!
