Pale Waves are a young indie pop band hailing from Liverpool and appear to be following in The 1975's rather large footsteps. Their indie pop sound is just as infectious as it is fun and since they released their debut single "Television Romance" it has been nothing but an upwards spiral for the band. It's crazy to see how far they've come in the short time they've actually been releasing music. Their second single "There's A Honey" was also a massive sensation for them and at this point I'm just not sure where it's ever going to stop for them, nonetheless, it's just so good to see Pale Waves finally release a body of music!
And I have to be honest I was so disappointed to see that "Television Romance" and "There's A Honey" were not on this EP, I think that could have really catapulted sales figures for them. However, what's left on this EP doesn't really live up to the heights of them singles. And whilst you have glimmers of indie pop greatness on tracks such as "The Tide" and "New Years Eve" but it ultimately lacks the heart and soul that I was hoping for on these 4 songs.
However, this does not mean that there's nothing but a decline in the future for Pale Waves because thye've already shown they can write pop greatness with those early singles and let's be honest, how many of your favourite bands early projects are ever that good? It's a shame, but they're still fantastic!
