OCTOBER DRIFT (Artist of The Week #5)

Fresh off touring with The Editors, October Drift are embarking on a UK tour currently. And it’s safe to say this is an exciting time for both new and long-term fans of the rock outfit. They currently have 2 EPs (‘Stranger Days’ & ‘This is Nowhere’) both equally exciting and as ambitious as the other one. What sets October Drift apart from the competition for me though is just how brilliant of a singer their frontman, Kiran Roy, really is. The way he transition from pure melody to heavy rock is, quite simply, bliss to listen to.

This is none so more evident than on their latest single “All Broken Down” which adopts a more melancholy, acoustic and yet atmospheric vibe for the band. This is the perfect song to slip into a setlist to get the arms waving and all the bros hugging in the crowd.

They’re also very well known for their live shows, of which I will be seeing very soon at Dryden Street Social – Leicester, as they possess such high infectious energy on stage, selling out shows on previous tours before they’d even released a debut single, that’s the high regard that people hold them in.

Despite already having a cult following I’m expecting these guys to grow and grow over the years, their music is larger than life, loud and abrasive to fill arenas and thoroughly talented. Will they be filling Wembley in the years to come? Probably. And it will be one hell of a show!
