The Amazons - Future Dust (Album Review)

Reading quartet The Amazons have finally returned with their sophomore album, Future Dust, after what has felt like an eternity of waiting the band begun to drop singles earlier this year with the first of them being the incredibly loud and powerful "Mother" which was screaming to be turned up to 11 from the first chord. Whilst the album doesn't continue in the same vein as it's eventual opener there are points where it glistens and others where it begins to drag.

"25" is a personal favourite from the album, I think it's representative of the growth in maturity of the band from their self-titled debut and how they have become more accomplished songwriters and general musicians. And that's a common thought I've consistently had whilst listening to this album - it's so much more polished, clean and well-made than their debut. Which is a phenomenal feat, especially in my eyes as that debut album means so much to me and I think it's perfect in every way.

Unfortunately, the album does begin to fizzle out towards the end because closer "Georgia" is probably one of the weakest tunes on the album, it's quite monotonous and one-track minded and yet strangely interesting in its own right. All in all, this will probably be one of my albums of the year as I've struggled to stop playing it since its release which is probably a very good sign!
