Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs - Viscerals (Album Review)

For time purposes I will not be referring to them as Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs for the remainder of this review, but merely Pigsx7, because typing their full name constantly might finally tip me over the edge. Anyway, Pigsx7 are a metal band from Newcastle, England who have been consistently growing into their role as the saviours of UK metal over the past few years. The band's first two albums, 'Feed the Rats' and 'King of Cowards' are both masterpieces of riff-based mayhem that blends their incredible echoed vocals with their mental sounds, so I was understandably excited for 'Viscerals'.

'Viscerals' does not disappoint, in fact it somehow exceeds expectations. The lead single 'Rubbernecker' is a blistering affair that is tighter and more succinct than their previous singles (standing at just short of 5 minutes). In fact, not a single song on the album tops the 10 minute mark, which just shows how they've cut down on the build-ups and the riffs to produce an album that keeps you hooked to the electrics for 39 minutes.

Besides an exciting progression for their songwriting and succinctness, the band have really stepped up their songwriting, with 'Blood and Butter' taking on the element of spoken word, and building up the "Social pressure cooker" - and it's the anger and drive that has always drawn me to Pigsx7, with their echoed and distorted screaming vocals from frontman Matt Baty, that just keep drawing me back to this incredible project.
