The mastermind behind it all is Davey Newington, a young Welsh lad with heaps and heaps of talent. And to top it all off, I had a chat with him after the Estrons show as well and he was a genuinely nice bloke, which makes the band infinitely more accessible to me. “Loner Boogie” is just as good of a single as well, it’s arguably catchier and more mainstream than its predecessor but definitely funkier.
It’s not long now until Boy Azooga’s debut album ‘1, 2, Kung Fu!’ is released, and I am absolutely giddy with excitement, as I said in Artist of the Week #1, there’s nothing better than watching an artist grow and evolve and then release their debut album. It’s a weird sense of pride you get for someone you don’t even know. But Boy Azooga are special and I fully expect them to be selling out big shows once this album drops, I’ll be seeing them at The Cookie in Leicester and I’ll see you down the front!
