KMMR's Top 50 Albums of 2018 // 30-21

Now we start moving the albums into the territory of what you should most definitely listen to. I'd recommend all of these albums and I think most people would enjoy a lot of them - so without further ado... Honourable Mentions Albums 50-41 Albums 40-31 30. Arctic Monkeys - Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino So I think it's safe to say this definitely isn't going to be their most revered album ever. In fact it may be the most hated album of the past year but there's strikes of genius here if you can move past the insufferable stroking of Alex Turner's ego throughout. The idea and story of the album keeps you involved throughout a whole listen and songs like "The Ultracheese" and "Star Treatment" have flashes of what could have been a truly amazing album... it's just not Arctic Monkeys. 29. Everything Is Recorded - S/T A well produced album can cover over a lot of cracks. Richard Russel's Everything Is Recorded is on...

Introducing... Silk Cinema

Silk Cinema submitted their music to KMMR a few weeks back, I put on 'Say You'll Love Me' and I was immediately smitten but the raw talent on show here. The vocals were nigh perfect, the songwriting was magnificent and it was all laid over this swift, trippy yet smooth beat that stuck with me long after listening. With the sheer amount of music I get sent it's getting harder for bands to stand out, so for me to say Silk Cinema are, arguably, one of the most genuine talents to ever grace my 'Submit Your Music' page. So of course I had to get the London based duo to take part in an interview, just to ensure that they gain exposure for their fantastic music. Q. Hello, so Silk Cinema is a different name, what's the story and idea behind that name? SC: Honestly, we were just brainstorming names for the project and I think it was my manager who said 'Silk Cinema! That's what you should call it' so we were like cool, silk cinema it is! It was pr...

Introducing... Kovic

I've been a massive fan of Kovic ever since I heard they were going to be the support act when I saw The Hunna last year. Being the music obsessive I am, I always search out the support bands and listen to their music, Kovic were something special. Very rarely do I come away from these situations as a genuine fan of the band. Kovic have managed to find that perfect medium with a soulful singer in a band, with fantastic song writing and great live performances. I had the chance to to talk to frontman Mark Kovic about songwriting struggles, acoustic songs and the High Time label. Q. Who's your biggest musical influence? Mark Kovic. Ask me again in a month and it probably would have changed, but i'd say today in terms of music and songwriting, it would have to be Ryan Tedder. Q. If you could collaborate with anyone, who would it be and why? K. I'd probably call up Kendrick Lamar, I have a track that I've been working on that is in need for that mans tale...

Amber Mark - 3:33am (EP Review)

Grief is one of the strongest emotions out there, for a lot of people it makes them turn in to introverts. Amber Mark has turned that on its head. After tragically losing her mother in 2013 she released the song S p a c e onto soundcloud in 2016. It is a pretty harmless thing to do, however Zane Lowe got a hold of the track and before she knew it she was in the top 50 viral charts and saw her track among the likes of Justin Bieber and Rihanna on the iTunes pages. With all of this in mind you would expect this EP to be sad, slow and tear jerking, but it's obvious that Amber that wanted to talk about this terrible scenario but still give out some good vibes throughout the record, and she does just that, perfectly. The EP begins with Regret, a haunting track with overtones that really represent the tone of the record. This is the first big track about her mothers death. However, what really shines here is her vocal capabilities where she perfectly ascends and descends through the...
